The Lovinggood Landing Committees

In addition to running for a Board of Directors seat, one can throw their name in the hat to occupy a position on any one or more of our important committees. There's a lot going on in the background around here at Lovinggood Landing.

Read below to understand what each committee does.

Architectural Control Committee (ACC)   ACC@Lovinggood.org

This committee has a Chairperson and 4 other voting members. This is the only committee mandated by our Covenants and operates independent of the Board of Directors. They primarily approve home modification applications and oversee the effort to maintain the visual integrity and uniformity of our neighborhood. As you can imagine, they stay busy making timely responses to requests, especially during the spring and summer months.

Chairperson: Jason Stoddart

Jan Montgomery, Ron White, Shirley Shallies, John Gerick, Ty Towriss, Peter Cavens

Lovinggood Community Restoration Unit (LCRU)   LCRU@Lovinggood.org

This is a long-time running volunteer tradition, but a newly organized, named, and now officially recognized committee that is responsible for overseeing the ongoing maintenance of our common areas. It has a Chairperson and as many members as wish to volunteer. This group stays busy year round as there is never an end to the list of items that need our attention. While in the past these volunteers have been unsung heroes, in formally recognizing LCRU we're also looking to give credit where credit is due... AND THEY DESERVE IT TOO! THEY DO THE HARD LABOR! HUGE THANKS TO ANYONE WHO'S VOLUNTEERED PAST, PRESENT, and FUTURE!

Chairperson (CRU CHIEF): Dave Shallies

Key Committee Members (based on meeting attendance and near 100% participation level): Rob Marbach, David Boyington, Ron White, Rob Abbott, Ty Towriss

Dock Committee (DOC)   Dock@Lovinggood.org

The Dock Committee is chaired by a "Dock Commodore (Chairperson)" and subsequent committee members who are tasked with tracking needed end cap repairs/maintenance/security and other related issues, such as oversight of members reserving the end cap for parties, etc. The responsibility also includes keeping a close eye on the end cap's use by unauthorized persons and exploring remedies with the marina. This entails maintaining a friendly working relationship and communication with marina management and staff. This committee and chairperson will work closely with LCRU, our volunteer laborers and craftsmen, whenever repairs need addressed, and make requests of the BOD for needed funds for such repairs. Also under this committee is the possibility of drafting up proposals for upgrades to our dock/end cap.

Commodore: Adam Mourdock

David & Stephanie Boyington, Danny McKenzie, John Ziccardi

Home Values Resource Coordinator (HVRC)   Home_Values@Lovinggood.org

At present this is a position of a Coordinator (HVRC) who provides resources for people looking to sell their homes in Lovinggood Landing for top dollar. These resources are growing but presently include a file drawer of useful collateral information such as photos and comparison aids, a golf cart hotline for buyer's agents to be able to show prospective buyers the full, in-person experience of the nature trails and our marina-connected life uniquely available to Lovinggood residents, and a collection of interviews with Realtors of notoriety who have garnered a track record of closing sales either at or above list price for Lake Allatoona properties like ours. These are Realtors from an array of agencies who've demonstrated proven effectiveness in marketing lake homes to a premium segment of buyers in the Atlanta area lake home market. The HVRC is an invaluable resource for people looking either to find an agent, or in aiding their existing agents in establishing listing prices commensurate with the rare and unique offerings of Lovinggood Landing, and in getting the kind of comps that should be applied when comparing to the type of lake properties and lake amenities that are offered here.

Covenant Review Committee (CRC)  CRC@Lovinggood.org

This committee was formed to arbitrate and make recommendations to the BOD when disputes arise as related to the interpretation of our Lovinggood Landing Covenants and Bylaws. As times change and our community's needs evolve, this committee takes on the very nebulous and arduous task of getting a feel for the societal trend of Lovinggood, and how our governing documents are affecting our harmony either positively or negatively. When tides of change are lapping on our shores, this committee takes on the responsibility of gathering feedback from the community at large, and then proposing amendments to our governing documents that might make better sense for the future and for the whole of our community. This volunteer team usually goes unsung, however their role is vital nonetheless at ensuring we live in a community where all are bound by a standard to which we all can be proud.

HOA Opinion Survey Committee (OSC)   Survey@Lovinggood.org

This is a committee of 2 HOA Members. It was formed in 2018 for the purpose of gathering feedback from HOA Membership about opinions and sentiment regarding our community. This committee will conduct a survey every so often based on information needed and questions given to them by the BOD and the the other committees for the purpose of future planning. This committee will then craft those provided questions into one unified online survey, send out, then collect the data and report the findings. This committee might be asked to present the findings to a meeting of the HOA Membership. The information gathered is tremendously insightful, and provides invaluable metrics about our trends and preferences as a community. Looking over the horizon, there's no doubt we're going to need more of this kind of quantifiable survey and feedback in the future.

Website / Cloud Accounts and Assets Manager (WEB) Website@Lovinggood.org

This is a fairly new managerial role that has elevated to a level of vital importance and responsibility as our world has transitioned to a cloud-based digital one. This person oversees the functioning of our HOA communications in managing our email forward settings to the BOD and various committees members' emails. They manage and regularly update our website, manage our cloud assets, safeguard its security, and attend to our numerous online accounts, logins & passwords. Over the past few years as this role has grown in scale, it's always been undertaken by members of the BOD. However it is an increasingly specialized role that requires someone with technical internet prowess and an eye for details such as website design. These skills are not a requirement for serving on the BOD. And there's no guarantee that future BOD members will want to take on these tasks. Nonetheless it is a critical function in our smooth operation.

Ty Towriss

Did you know all of that effort has been underway here in our little 53 home community? It's often hard to notice, but it all hums along in the backdrop. Must admit it's pretty impressive.

If you're one who's felt compelled to give back to your community, you needn't look further than right outside your front window. There's a friendly group of neighbors here that will genuinely appreciate your help. The only qualification is that you're willing to give of yourself in making life better for both yourself and your neighbors. This seems to have always been the Lovinggood way. You may find that you enjoy it. But you won't know till you try. Please send an email to HOA@lovinggood.org.
